Description

We start our hiking trip with a train ride to the Oberalp Pass. At the lighthouse, the path first leads us along the pass road slightly downhill. After about 600 meters we cross the road, after which the path becomes wider. We are now on the former railway line of the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn, which used to run openly around the flank of the Piz Calmot. Today, however, the railway largely disappears in a tunnel, a little later in a semi-open gallery. If it suddenly hums and rumbles: do not be frightened! There is a train on the way.

Halfway we reach a picnic area on the right side with a view of the valley. Where the train leaves the tunnel again we cross a viaduct over a rushing mountain stream. In zigzag we hike on a meadow path to just before Tschamut. As soon as we meet asphalt, we turn left up to the train station.

Geheimtipp

In July, the Turkish League blooms along the way

Sicherheitshinweis

The picnic area on the way is completely exposed to the sun! Caution should be exercised when crossing the pass route. The path is not suitable for prams throughout.

Directions

From the Oberalp Pass we follow the red and white marked hiking trail in the direction of Rheinquelle/Tomasee. After about 600 meters we cross the pass route to the left and follow the wide, signposted path to Tschamut.
