Where the Alp Santa Maria with the first Marian hospice and chapel used to stand, today there is a reservoir.

We start our hike at the dam crown. The following road to the Alpe Rondadura is ideal for warming up. Here we change to a hiking trail, which leads us steadily and in between also a bit steep, upwards. We walk through flower meadows and we cross small streams. The mountain panorama is dotted with two three-thousand-metre peaks. On the Scopi there is a military radar station, which is accessible by an aerial cable car, but which cannot be used by the public. During the construction of the plants, the originally nine-metre higher summit was levelled. The Piz Rondadura closes the valley with 3016 meters in the southwest.

In front of us, a bubbling mountain stream shows where the lake could be, but it hides until the very end, because it is beautifully embedded in a hollow. It can also be circumnavigated over stick and stone. Or if you don't shy away from the cold water, take a short bath.

A little west of the lake it has two more small and pretty little seas. But the way there is not signaled.

After crossing the dam wall, we hike on an alpine path to Alpe Rondadura. Here a marked hiking trail leads up to the lake. Back we hike on the same path.
