Description

This trail running lap with start and finish in Disentis brings a completely new perspective on the valley. On some sections of the path there are only a few ancient signposts and in some digital map offers the paths to Munt Sut are not even noted anymore. However, the risk of getting lost is still low.

After the start in Disentis we first go down to the Rhine, then our track follows with short ascents and descents of the partly historic road to Madernal - for those interested in history it is worth taking a look at the "Faux Chalet" of the Russein barrage of the Swiss military, a flanking plant of the fortress Stalusa. On the asphalt road to Pardomat, we take it for a short ascent to the cantonal road, which we then follow for 200 meters in the direction of Disentis until a road leads to the right into the forest. This is where the actual ascent begins, first following a road and from point 1331 then on a varied trail towards Munt Sut. The local Maiensässe are supplied with a material rope from the opposite side of the Val Lumpegna and cannot be reached by car. Accordingly, it is quiet and original up there – and the unique panoramic view over the upper Surselva is definitely worth a rest.

A few meters further on, the trail leads into a newly developed road that leads us through the Val Lumpegna to Runfoppa Su. Who is not already here on the (steep!) Hiking trail to Runfoppa Sut changes, should leave the road from point 1462, the hiking trail to Val Sogn Placi is not only beautiful, but also good to walk and only steep in the first section. To the starting point you go through the hamlet of Faltscharidas and past the chapel Sogn Placi.

Sicherheitshinweis

If you are not afraid of a few extra meters of altitude, you can turn right again a few meters after the junction with the road towards Val Lumpegna and first follow a path, later partly pathless to point 2238. For the way back, there is a new variant via Stavel la Val and Alp Lumpegna – also pathless on short sections.

Directions

From Disentis station we follow the access road to Cavardiras to the Rheinbrück in Brulf. On the left side of the river we continue to Disla and at the junction in the village immediately turn right again towards Madernal. As soon as we reach the access road to Madernal we walk on the paved road to the bridge at Rehin and turn left. At the power plant we follow the hiking trail. At the next junction we walk left up to the cantonal road. After a few meters on the road we cross the historic bridge Punt Russein on the right. After another 100 meters along the cantonal road, we turn right onto a road that leads into an unmarked hiking trail. At the Maiensässen in Aclas da Madernal we turn right to the last building after which we go through the forest up to Munt sut. At the clearing with further maize wets we stay on the track at the left edge of the forest. The trail leads into Val Lumpegna and to Run Foppa su. On a signposted hiking trail we walk downhill to Faltscharidas and back to Disentis station.
