Description

With packed snowshoes we hike to the year-round inhabited village of Cavorgia, the actual starting point of the tour. On snowshoes we walk from here on a snow-covered forest road evenly uphill to the hill Stagias, where we get an insight into the Val Medel and a view of the Piz Muraun. On the stairs of the Academia Vivian we let ourselves be warmed by the sun and have a picnic. The building can be rented for events of any kind and can accommodate 40 people. We remember this if we want to celebrate a birthday party in a special setting.

We continue our hike downhill and from time to time we leave the given route to lay fresh tracks in the untouched snow. In Mutschnengia we pack up our snowshoes and make a detour to the panoramic restaurant of the Hotel Cuntera.  On the almost traffic-free road we walk to Curaglia, from where the Postbus takes us to Disentis and the train back to Sedrun.

Geheimtipp

Variant 1: Hike from Stagias to Mumpé Medel and to Disentis. (zus. Hiking time approx. 30 min.)

Variant 2: From Mutschnengia on the route over the old mule path to Mumpé Medel and Disentis (zus. Hiking time approx. 1 hour)

The tour can also be done in the opposite direction at the start in Curaglia/Fadretsch.

Sicherheitshinweis

The trail starts in Cavorgia and is signposted, but those who are not familiar with the area are advised to print out the topo map and carry it with them.

After large amounts of fresh snow, the tour can be exhausting. The Uaul Cavorgia is in the shade in midwinter

Directions

We walk along the road to Cavorgia.  At the junction near the chapel we go right up to the end of the village and then over the open field to the forest. We hike about 150 meters through the forest further uphill until we meet a forest road that we follow to the left. There is another junction of the road. Here we go to the right. In an arc into a small valley, we reach the maize areas of Cavorgia Sura. We are again at a branch, but now find the pink signaling that leads us on the forest path to the right, to Stagias.  From Stagias we follow the signs in a southerly direction to Mutschnengia and Curaglia.
