Description

We start our tour in the pretty hamlet of Soliva, which is inhabited by only one person all year round. We follow the snow-covered road, which winds uphill in wide bends and which is usually easily recognizable, as there is rarely much snow on this southern slope. During the ascent we always take time to look down into the valley towards the Lukmanier Pass and the ever smaller houses of Curaglia and Soliva. In between, birch trees line the path and in Mises dil Plaun well-kept Maiensässe duck under the weight of the snow. To the west we get an insight into the Tujetsch with Sedrun and up to the Oberalp Pass. Further up, in Fontauna Rodunda, we look for a nice place in front of one of the maiensässe and have a picnic. The mountain range in front of us is impressive: the mighty Piz Muraun has something almost majestic and the Medelser chain, which closes the Val Plattas, is very impressive with its glacier. On the way back we mostly stick to the ascent track, but in between we can whirl up the snow under our snowshoes over the open field.
