Description
This tour is not part of the signposted snowshoe trail network. We are in open terrain, where we have to assess the dangers ourselves.
Important: Do not take the normal summer route via Croce Portera! Avalanche blasting.
After we have reached the clearly recognizable turnoff at the pass road, we mount the snowshoes. This path is also used from time to time by rustici owners by snowmobile, but today we are the first to make a track in the snow.
We are in the middle of a fairytale forest, sometimes the snowy fir branches almost hang in our faces, sometimes small clearings open up. As soon as we leave the forest we roam through hilly, open terrain and soon the highest point is reached. We can already see our destination in the distance, the houses of Dötra. It now goes slightly downhill, always with a view of the Rheinwaldhorn.
At the Grotto Dötra we stop for a bite to eat. We listen to the lively conversations in the Ticino dialect and treat ourselves to a Boccalino or a Tazzino Vino Rosso with a dried meat plate.
Before the sun is too low we make our way back and now we are happy about the beautiful trail we have laid ourselves. But if only we had drunk tea!

Directions
The route is not signposted as a snowshoe tour and it does not run on the summer hiking trail to Alp Dötra. With packed snowshoes we hike from the restaurant Acquacalda about 5-10 minutes along the pass route downhill until we reach an unmarked junction on the left side of the road. A clearly visible alpine path leads us through the forest. As soon as we reach open terrain, we keep to the left in an arc and reach the highest point. Through a small valley we now descend in an easterly direction, we can already see the houses of Dötra. The way back is on the same route.
Important: Do not take the noral summer path via Croce Portera. Danger due to avalanche blasts.
