Description
Where the Alp Santa Maria used to stand with the first Marian hospice and chapel, there is now a reservoir.
We start our hike at the top of the dam. To warm up, the following road to Alpe Rondadura is ideal. Here we switch to a hiking trail that leads us steadily and in between also a bit steep, upwards. We walk through flower meadows and we cross small streams. The mountain panorama is peppered with two three-thousand-metre peaks. There is a military radar station on the Scopi, which is accessed by an aerial cableway, but which cannot be used by the public. During the construction of the facilities, the summit, which was originally nine meters higher, was leveled. The Piz Rondadura closes the valley with 3016 meters in the southwest.
In front of us, a bubbling mountain stream indicates where the lake could be, but it hides until the end, because it is beautifully embedded in a hollow. It can also be circumnavigated over hill and dale. Or if you don't shy away from the cold water, you can take a short bath.
At the moment, in addition to the reservoir crown, work is underway on the gallery. The hike can also be started at Alp Stgegia. As of June 2023
Geheimtipp
