Description

We start our tour at the upper end of the village of Segnas and at the beginning skiers meet us from time to time. Because the first 15 minutes we walk along the valley run in Val Segnas. But then we turn left onto a forest path into the forest and climb leisurely to the first huts of Run Cunel.

At the Maiensässen in Prau Sura we take a break. Based on one of the sunlit huts, we enjoy the silence and the view of the Piz Medel. We do a few laps in the fresh snow in the open field before we start the descent to Mompe Tujetsch. This leads us through a forest that seems fairytale-like. As soon as we meet the winter hiking trail, we pack the snowshoes on the backpack and hike back to Segnas. Finally, we treat ourselves to coffee and cake in the cosy Ustria Cresta at the bottom of the village.

At the starting point in Segnas we find a starting board with further information about the tour.

Sicherheitshinweis

Do not leave the path through the forest (wild rest zone). The route is marked, but those unfamiliar with the area are advised to print out the topo map for the tour and carry it with them.

Directions

Above the village of Segnas we follow the pink signs and we walk into the Val Segnas to the junction on the left, to Prau Sura. On a wide path we reach the highest point after about 1 hour. Now we keep to the south, either we follow the signs or we make our own tracks over the open field. At the well in Prau Sura, the path now leads downhill through a forest to Mompe Tujetsch. From here we hike back to Segnas without snowshoes.
