V - Vergera Bike

On the former mule road to the Lukmanier Pass, we are certainly faster on the bike than our ancestors, but without effort it will not work. On the first few hundred meters we don't notice anything about it, but as soon as it starts to climb in Fontanivas, we have to pedal quite a bit. Once the village of Mompé Medel is reached, it becomes more comfortable, because a road leads further up to the hill Stagias and down again until we meet the Säumerweg again.  The single trail to Vergera leads through birch and fir forest and at the small chapel we descend briefly to inform ourselves with a short text about the historical development of the Pass Roman. Knowledge of Romansh is an advantage!

As soon as the descent is due, we have to concentrate on the trail again, although the view of the valley always tries to distract us from it. After Mompé Medel we already know the way back to Disentis station.

In Fontanivas I take a dip in the cool water of the lake.
