Lolenpass - Trail
Show all 12 images
Our tour starts quite loosely, first with a slight descent along the pass road and later on a high-altitude path along the eastern flank of the Pazzolastock. On a road we cover the last part to the Maighelshütte. On the way we enjoy the plidiutscha plain, the first crossing of the very young Rhine and small clear blue mountain lakes. At the hut we let ourselves go really well on the terrace, because we are not in a hurry. In front of us lies a magnificent mountain panorama with glaciers and lakes.
We soon tackle the last 150 meters of altitude difference to the Lolen Pass and reach a water-rich and mossy plain, which leans gently towards the Unteralptal. Continue down to an alp and shortly afterwards we reach the phenomenal hairpin bends for the last descent. We are sent back and forth 48 times until we reach the valley floor.
On the alpine road to Andermatt it is a matter of perseverance. However, if we take a dip in the stream on the way, we can easily manage the last piece. The Matterhorn Gotthard Railway takes us back to the starting point on the Oberalp Pass.
Snack in the Maighelshütte highly recommended. Homemade fruit cake.
The route is sportier in the opposite direction.
