Description

Our tour starts quite casually, first with a slight descent along the pass road and later on a high-altitude path along the eastern flank of the Pazzolastock. On a road we cover the last stretch to the Maighelshütte. On the way we enjoy the plain Plidutscha, the first crossing of the very young Rhine and small clear blue mountain lakes. At the hut we let ourselves go really well on the terrace, because we are not in a hurry. In front of us is a magnificent mountain panorama with glaciers and lakes.

We immediately tackle the last 150 meters of altitude to the Lolenpass and reach a water-rich and mossy plain, which leans very smoothly towards the Unteralptal. Continue down to an alp and shortly afterwards we reach the phenomenal bends for the last descent. A full 48 times we are sent back and forth until we reach the valley floor.

On the Alpine road to Andermatt it is a matter of perseverance. However, if we take a dip in the creek along the way, we can make the last piece loose. The Matterhorn Gotthard Railway takes us back to the starting point on the Oberalp Pass.

Geheimtipp

Commental catering in the Maighelshütte highly recommended. Homemade fruit cake.

The track is more sporty in the opposite direction.

Directions

From the Oberalp Pass we follow the marked hiking trail to the Maighelshütte. After the descent from the Maighelshütte, the signposts on the plain point us in the right direction. The hiking trail to the Lolen Pass (Pass Tagliola) is signposted. As soon as we reach the road in the Unteralptal, we keep right in the direction of Andermatt
