Description

The scenic summit tour over the Piz Ault – located between Val Medel and Val Plattas – starts in Curaglia. We leave the village on the «path of the senses» which we soon leave and we follow a path to the pretty mountain pastures of Gliarauns.  For a short section, it now goes leisurely uphill on a road. But soon we look for the shortcuts between the road, which quickly increases our altitude. At point 1779 we have to walk a few meters downhill.  After another short stretch of road, it's always uphill on the ridge – fantastic views on both sides are guaranteed.

Soon the summit of Piz Ault comes into view. Until we reach this there are still some big rocks to pass, but this is easily feasible.  Once at the top, the view is free of the Medelser chain with the numerous snow-covered peaks.

It remains breezy on both sides until we reach the Fuorcla dalla Buora. The descent to Alp Puzzetta is initially quite steep and the Val la Buora is extremely wild and original. After a forest we reach the striking, red building of the Ziegenalp Puzzeta. A little below we branch off to the mountain pastures of Peinzas and we get back on our ascent route.

Option 1: From Piz Ault back to point 2113, into Val Plattas to Alp Sura and back to Curaglia.

Option 2: From Alp Puzzetta continue downhill to Fuorns and by post bus back to Curaglia.

Geheimtipp

A nice summer tour, as you quickly gain altitude and on the ridge usually a pleasant wind goes. But especially the "Indian Summer" of the birch trees above Curaglia make the round a dream tour even in autumn.

Directions

From the center of the village we follow the signposted hiking trail towards Pardatsch and Medelserhütte. After the large joinery, at the next road bend, a hiking trail leads right away to Gliarauns. As soon as we reach the junction at the road, we keep to the right. After a long loop to the west side of the ridge, the road changes back to the east side, where we must not miss the unmarked direct paths, the shortcuts. Otherwise we stay on the road until the junction of the hiking trail to Piz Ault. Continue along the ridge to Fuorcla dalla Buora and west into Val la Buora to Alp Puzetta. A little below the alp we turn right. At the Maiensässen of Peinzas Dado we branch off to the right again, this time uphill. This is followed by about 250 meters of ascent until we reach our ascent route, on which we descend to Curaglia.
