Piz Ault im Val Medel

We start our tour in Pardé, a small village on the Lukmanier pass road. The first minutes we walk on a paved melioration road, which we leave shortly after a stone wall on the left. We almost missed the turnoff! We now ascend through forest, over meadows and past pretty mountain pastures to the Ziegenalp Puzzetta. The modern building surprises with its red color, but we agree that it fits well into the landscape and is very photogenic. Along a mountain flank and only moderately ascending we hike into the Val la Buora, at the bottom right we see the stony stream bed, where the waters of the glaci Davos la Buora flow to the valley. Then we look up and we mentally prepare ourselves for the fact that we now have to overcome about three hundred meters of altitude, practically thread-straight up, to the Fuorcla dalla Buora.

Once at the top, this transition to Val Medel is still in the shade, so that the freed-up view of the Medels Glacier almost dazzles us a little. The following ridge is alternately wide and overgrown with grass and erika, then again demanding and interspersed with rocky passages. And it goes up and down until we can finally enjoy the view at point 2479, next to the big Steinmann. The valleys with their villages and fractions are far below us and the 360 degree mountain panorama is impressively peppered with snow-capped peaks. On the descent we pass in Crap Stagias at a hut with fireplace and fountain, then we soon look down to our starting point Pardé.

At the cottage in Crap Stagias it has a fire pit, table with bench and a fountain with fresh spring water.

In Pardé we follow the trail signalling towards Fuorcla dalla Buora. On a paved road we hike uphill until we reach the junction of the hiking trail shortly after the Steinwall, at a small stream. Now it goes steeply up to the left and immediately over a bridge again right. We are now on the hiking trail to Alp Puzzetta and again and again we find white/red markings. At Alp Puzzetta we make sure that we catch the upper one, the two hiking trails leading into the Val la Buora. This leads us first flat, then slightly uphill into the valley. On the way we cross a stony stream bed, after which we soon go up to the Fuorcla in very short bends. On the Fuorcla we turn left onto the ridge. Now we stay on the ridge and follow the path until we meet a road. We walk a few minutes south on the road until we meet a hiking trail again. This leads us above Pardé to a Maiensäss at the point 1703. We turn right and follow the path we came in the morning until we reach Pardé
