Description

Cordial beinvegni - benvenuti - welcome. We drive over three passes and through three language regions. We enjoy the route from Disentis over the Lukmanier Pass to Olivone with relatively little traffic. Shortly after the top of the pass we are already in Ticino and beautiful well-kept rusticis line the path.  From Olivone through the Valle di Blenio we pass through some typical Ticino villages, such as Aquila or Dongio. In Biasca we turn into the Valle Leventina. It goes uphill, at first only moderately, just right to get warm.

In Airolo we choose the old Gotthard pass route, which is paved in the upper part. The feeling of being on this historic road is great. Like a snake, the path winds its way up to the Gotthard Pass. Here we are greeted by the Uri bull on the coat of arms. Traffic is increasing, as this pass is one of the most popular destinations for motorized visitors on four or two wheels.

Down to Hospental and to Andermatt it goes quite quickly. The contrast between the old beautiful town centre of Andermatt and the new buildings of Andermatt Swissalps is impressive. Theoretically, we could have a coffee at the 5-star hotel The Chedi, but we settle down in one of the traditional inns on the terrace.

This is followed by today's third ascent. Arriving at the Oberalp Pass , we switch back to the Rhaeto-Romanic culture. It's easy to go back to Disentis.

Geheimtipp

Gotthard Museum on the Gotthard Pass.  A swivel through Hospental is worthwhile. The village is very pristine and steeped in history.

Sicherheitshinweis

Construction work on the gallery at the reservoir. As of June 2023
