Selva Secca Lukmanierpass, Rundtour

This tour is not part of the signposted snowshoe trail network. We are in open terrain, where we have to assess the dangers ourselves.  

We follow the tracks of snowmobiles and other snowshoe hikers down to the stream and balance over the bridge over the Brenno, which flows gently and silently. Due to the following loose pine forest we behave quite quietly, because here also mountain hares live. The gnarled Swiss stone pines wear original hats made of snow - a wonderful photo subject. After a short time we step out of the forest and in front of us is the Alpe Stabbia Nuovo. The high-voltage line only slightly tarnishes the experience of nature and serves us as an orientation aid. We walk following the hiking trail signs in a south-east direction so that we always have the wires nice on the left side, because this is the best way to get to Stèbia Vècc. There we now go down in the forest into a wildly romantic valley where a narrow bridge leads us over the stream. The landscape is varied, open spaces and forest alternate. At the rusticos in Pian Segno we take a break. In Acquacalda we keep right of the pass road and we follow the trail through the loose pine forest to Alpe Pozzetta and back to the parking lot in Casaccia.

Take a picnic with you, there are always nice places to stay

We start at the parking lot in Casaccia, first hike down to the stream, cross the bridge and continue to follow the tracks into the loose forest. Soon we meet the trail markings to Alpe Stabbio Nuovo. After the forest we stop in a south-east direction into the plain. We move slightly to the right of the high-voltage line and get on a small saddle before going down through the forest into a valley. We follow the signposts and the trail markings.After the narrow bridge over the stream we reach a clearing that we cross. This is how we reach the route of a road that leads to Pian Segno. Now the easy ascent to the pass route to Acquacalda begins. After the Centro Uomo Natura we follow the trail on the right side of the road to Pozzetta and in an arc back to Casaccia.
