Description
We start our tour in the pretty hamlet of Soliva and follow the snow-covered road, which winds uphill in wide bends and is usually easy to see, as there is rarely a lot of snow on this southern slope. In between, birch trees line the path and in Mises dil Plaun, well-kept Maiensässe duck under the weight of the snow. To the west we get a view of Tujetsch with Sedrun and up to the Oberalp Pass. Further up, in Fontauna Rodunda, we look for a nice spot in front of one of the Maiensässe and have a picnic. The mountain range in front of us is impressive: the mighty Piz Muraun has something almost majestic about it and the Medelser chain, which ends the Val Plattas, is very impressive with its glacier. On the way back we mostly stick to the ascent track, but in between we can also blow up the snow under our snowshoes over the open field.
