Functions and activities
The monastery Disentis preserves a rich cultural heritage. The baroque complex bears witness to the generous confidence of the post-reformation period and is a striking landmark in the landscape. On the other hand, the monastic building complex has received a modern extension, especially with the school buildings.
In addition to the excellently documented history of the monastery, it has a comprehensive Romansh library and covers the cultural and natural history of the region with a well-designed monastery museum.
The most important activity besides the monastic life is the management of the monastery school, allowing for secondary school education in the outskirts of the Surselva. With the new building of the girls' boarding school, designed by the renowned Bündner architect Gion A. Caminada, the monastery set a living sign between tradition and modernity.

The new, stylishly furnished rooms in the baroque building of the monastery offer heavenly sleeping hours. Well-bedded, the guest experiences a rested stay at the monastery Disentis. The new rooms are located in the beautiful baroque building of the monastery. The tranquillity of the monastery and the view of the mountains are an incredible source of inspiration. The rooms offer plenty of space and are decorated with style. The light spruce wood and the south-facing windows create a friendly atmosphere, and the view of the mountains will open the heart. As a monastery, televisions are deliberately missing in the rooms; instead, guests have access to a salon and a reading room.

If you are looking for a place of inspiration and a retreat, you will find it in the monastery of Disentis. Here, you will find seclusion and silence, style and atmosphere, light and space, nature and culture, as well as refreshment and hospitality. To help you concentrate on the event, the team of the monastery Disentis ensures a smooth organisation in advance. The staff of the cloister and cultural centre Disentis is doing its best to ensure the success of your event. Organisation and hospitality are our daily business, and we will make you an individual offer – let us know in which areas you wish for our support. The monastery Disentis offers customers complete support from conception and planning to the implementation of the event, the fair, the conference, the company celebration, or any other festivity. Here, you will find meeting rooms for up to 300 guests or a retreat on a small scale. In the Peter Kaiser Hall, up to 300 people can be accommodated, in the Pilgrim's Hall up to 70 people, in the seminar rooms "St. Beda" and "St. Edith Stein" up to 25 people, and in the salon, small groups will have sufficient space.
